Robert Jeffress Endorses Mitt Romney

Conservative Samizdat

I was very critical of Rick Perry's campaign for stubbornly allowingPastor Robert Jeffress to spew religious bigotry on behalf of their campaign. Other people were quick to condemn Robert Jeffress for his comments about the LDS religion. Robert Jeffress wrote an op-ed defending his religious bigotry and I wrote a blog article dismantlinghis arguments.

As much as I strongly disagree with Pastor Robert Jeffress' opinions about the LDS Church being a non-Christian cult, he has kept his promise that he would get behind Mitt Romney if he became the Republican nominee. Here's what he said in October of 2011:
ACOSTA: Wolf is asking me to ask you, are you saying that because of Mitt Romney's faith, that people should not vote for him? That people should not go into the voting booth and flip the switch for Mitt Romney because of his faith? Should that be held against him?
JEFFRESS: Look, I think if it came down to a contest between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, I would hold my nose and hope for Mitt Romney. I would rather have a non-Christian who at least supports biblical principles than a professing-Christian like Barack Obama who embraces unbiblical positions.
True to his word, Robert Jeffress is now getting behind Mitt Romney:
The Southern Baptist pastor who last October called Mormonism a cult and said Mitt Romney is not a Christian is now endorsing the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
The pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, the Rev. Robert Jeffress, tells The Associated Press that he still doesn't believe Mormons are Christians.
But Jeffress says voters will have to choose between a Christian like President Barack Obama and a Mormon like Romney. He says the difference is that Obama embraces non-biblical principles while Romney embraces biblical principles like the sanctity of life and the sanctity of marriage.
Given that choice, Jeffress says he believes Christians should support Romney in November "in spite of his Mormon faith."
Jeffress says that there are no perfect candidates - and no perfect pastors either.
Here's the video of the Pastor talking about his support for Mitt Romney:
My respect for the Pastor has increased because he kept his word on supporting Mitt Romney. I agree with Ed Morrisey's observation about Robert Jeffress' endorsement:
But hopefully Jeffress has learned a lesson about having to eat one’s words down the line, if not the dangers of indulging in ecumenical combat in the middle of a political campaign.
I hope he's learned his lesson because there is more at stake in Presidential elections than worrying about a candidate's faith or insisting that the Republican nominee be of a particular religion. As a result of Romney becoming the nominee, I don't think he will have to hold his nose in voting for Mitt Romney as he said he would last October and that he will be enthusiastic in voting for him. Moreover, other evangelicals have come out and said that they will vote for Romney in the general election. Even more interesting is that a recent poll taken in Virginia shows that evangelicals in that state would overwhelmingly vote for Romney. This poll that was conducted in Virginia might be true across the country in which evangelicalseither don't care about Romney's faith or that they are so strongly opposed to Obama that are willing to vote for Mitt Romney and help the Republican party regain the White House in 2012.

3 Reasons Rick Santorum Has Not Endorsed Mitt Romney

By Jesse Merkel
The GOP race for the presidential nomination has been over for more than a week, ever since Rick Santorum officially suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination. Considering the beatings that he and Mitt Romney gave each other over the last few months, it was really no surprise that Santorum failed to endorse the former Massachusetts governor in his final speech. The closest Santorum has come to supporting Romney was when he commented that he was ‘committed’ to defeating President Obama in November.

People that believe the lord of the sweater vest will refuse to endorse Romney out of principle are in for a rude awakening. It’s more likely that he’s holding out for a few simple reasons:

Debt. Santorum left the campaign with tons of debt. By the end of February, that debt had grown to almost one million dollars. Reports have varied, but many have assumed that it grew by leaps and bounds over the many contests held in March. Now he needs to pay it off, and doesn’t have the resources or organization Romney has to raise enough.

Chances are Santorum will eventually be going to Romney at some point, hat in hand. (Cue the jokes about Santorum flip-flopping on bailouts.) In the end, Romney will probably do it, because having Santorum’s influential voice as an ally certainly won’t hurt. At some point over the next few weeks, the two men will meet, and afterwards Santorum, will most likely give a formal endorsement.

Longer Wait = Greater Reward. Santorum exited the race for strategic reasons. He was dropping in the polls faster than he was taking on debt. If he had lost his home state to Romney on April 24, he would have lost all credibility for a future run. Right now at age 53, Santorum is still young enough to have a viable future if he saved face. If he runs again in four or eight years, he will still be younger then than Romney is today.

The longer Santorum holds out, the more clout he may wind up with. The more time drags on, the more the Romney campaign and the rest of the GOP may want to just get on with it. Santorum could barter his endorsement for a platform at the convention, a cabinet position, or any other number of things.

Mitt Romney / Rick Santorum
Read Between The Lines. On April 18, a batch of late-arriving fundraising letters arrived in the mailboxes of Iowa voters. These letters contained scathing rhetoric towards Romney, signaling that if Santorum’s campaign was to continue, he would have double down on the ‘Massachusetts Moderate’ and ‘Worst Candidate Possible’ lingo.

Santorum’s campaign commented that the letters were already paid for and sent out before he withdrew, although some people believe that this may be part of an effort to raise more money with which to pay off his debts. If he had endorsed Romney only to have those letters hit the press afterwards, it would have been a P.R. disaster.

Santorum waged a commendable fight. His time-honored approach of retail politicking earned him a massive upset in Iowa and nearly a dozen additional victories. However, his Cinderella story was not meant to be. Romney has a tremendous lead, and even if former Speaker Newt Gingrich and Congressman Ron Paul stay in the race till the convention, it’s nearly a mathematical impossibility that either of them could overtake Romney.

Now that the primary has entered April, more contests will be decided on a winner-take-all basis. If Romney sweeps all five contests on April 24 as he is expected to do, it could increase his lead by over 200 more delegates.

Santorum wants something. That much is for sure. Even with his lead in Super PAC fundraising and rebounding positives, Romney is going to need every possible foot soldier to defeat a powerful incumbent like Obama. Whether he wants a prime-time speaking slot, a guaranteed repeal of ObamaCare signed in blood, or a cabinet posting, chances are he may just get it.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Santorum and Romney may have spent the last few months knocking each other in the next zip code, but both know that only a united GOP can beat President Obama. Santorum wants Obama defeated, but if he can guarantee a bit of success for himself in the future, that won’t hurt either.

Who Has A Better Economic Record: Obama Or Romney?

Conservative Samizdat Samizdat (Cамиздат-Cам-"self, by oneself"; издат-"publishing house"): Translates to mean self published. Providing conservative news and opinion since 2009.

By Jared Allebest

With the general election underway in which Mitt Romney will challenge Barack Obama for the Presidency, both candidates will try to make the case that they are the one who can turn this economy around.

Unfortunately, Obama cannot make that case because he's never been serious about improving the U.S. economy. And it shows. Now that Obama has been in office for almost four years, his economic record is something that Americans are not proud of.

Obama's reelection strategy is to blame the previous administration for the current problems. If that's the strategy he wants to use in this election, its not a very good one because he hasn't done anything to fix the problems he has inherited from the Bush Administration. Take a good look at the chart below and you'll see why:

When Mitt Romney was governor of Massachusetts, the previous administration had left him with a terrible financial mess for him to deal with. When Mitt entered into office in 2003, he was a left with a massive deficit of approximately $3 billion. Mitt Romney did not complain about the previous administration nor did he attempt to place the blame on anyone else. He simply went to work to balance the budget. By 2005, Mitt Romney had a budget surplus of $1 billion and by the time he left office in 2007, he left the state had a $ 2 billion surplus. Moreover, when the state was threatened with a loss in credit rating, Mitt Romney took swift action to take care of the problem.

Mitt Romney's economic record stands in stark contrast with Barak Obama's. Our economy is in grave danger and we need a candidate who knows how businesses work, knows how to create jobs, and how to whip a government back into financial shape.

The choice for who should be the President is clear. We need Mitt Romney in the White House. You can make that happen by voting for Mitt in November.

After Obamacare: What Republicans Must Do To Reform Healthcare

By Mike Portillo

Things certainly could not be any worse for President Obama’s signature reform.  Thirty States have sued to stop the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known as Obamacare.  The Supreme Court appears to be leaning towards a decision that will overturn Obamacare.  Presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney has said time and again that his first order of business as president would be to repeal Obamacare.  Anyone can see that the writing is on the proverbial wall and Obamacare’s days are numbered.  The law will fall one way or another and that is a great victory for the American people.

In terms of political capital, the GOP stands to gain from the fall of Obamacare.  The passage and enactment of this gargantuan law has led many average Americans to wake up to the fact that the Democratic Party has become the party of a huge, overbearing, progressive government consuming both tax dollars and borrowed money as if it was being served up at an all-you-can-eat endless buffet (not to be confused with the Buffet Rule).

However, the memory of the modern American has become very short as the 24 hour news cycle becomes the 24 second news cycle and twitter trends rise and fall faster than Bank of America stock (anyone remember Kony2012?  Didn’t think so).  Americans exist in an age of instant gratification.  Due to this fact, the anger of modern Americans spurred on by perceived inaction may also be enflamed in a very short period of time (how long does it take you to get mad about a line that isn’t moving at the store?).  This is why Republicans must not be satisfied with merely undoing Obamacare.  They must not be satisfied with a measly touchdown, they need to go for thetwo point conversion and continue to lead in the important issue of healthcare, one that has tended to be a winner for Democrats in recent years.

If the Republican Party is to convince the American people that they care and have real solutions to problems facing every day Americans; solutions that do not involve reducing freedom, wasting tax dollars, and increasing the size of government, then they need to have a plan ready to put before the American people the day that Obamacare is no more.  This plan must be comprehensive and address the real concerns facing average Americans.  I have been researching this issue and I have been unable to find a recent comprehensive GOP plan that is ready to be put before the American people the day after Obamacare is undone.   Here are my suggestions:

·        One of the most popular provisions of Obamacare is the ability that parents have to keep their children on their insurance accounts until age 26.  As more and more young adults are staying home after age 18, retuning to school, and working part-time due to the weak economy this provision has polled very well.  Losing this provision as part of a repeal of Obamacare would be unpopular amongst young adults as well as their parents.  One of the three largest segments of uninsured individuals in the United States are young adults aged 18-25.  In 2010 nearly 73% of young adults were uninsured.   The GOP should seize and expand upon this issue by allowing parents to keep their children on their insurance plans until age 29.

·        Pre-Existing Conditions requirements are another major issue tackled by Obamacare.  This provision polls well and must be included in any comprehensive GOP healthcare reform plan.  Insurers should not be allowed to reject patients based on Pre-Existing conditions as they are the ones who typically need coverage the most and if they are rejected they will remain as part of the 40-50 million Americans without health coverage. This does present a cost issue which will be addressed shortly.

·        Combine the three medical spending accounts (Flex Spending, Health Savings, and Reimbursement) into one tax-exempt Personal Medical Account (PMA). Eliminate the cap on contributions to this account.

·        Create a 100% dollar-for-dollar tax credit for the cost of purchasing a plan out of pocket.  This will incentivize contract employees, entrepreneurs, and other self-employed individuals to purchase healthcare coverage for themselves and their families.

DIANE SAWYER SHOWS TYPICAL LIBERAL BIAS IN ROMNEY INTERVIEW:

By Tim Shaw Sr.
This question Diane Sawyer asked Mitt Romney, "Are you too rich for people to relate to you?" Is absolutely ridiculous. Of course this is the narrative Obama is painting to try and distract attention from his record.
But I never remember one reporter asking John Kerry or John Edwards this question, both wealthy men. Nor do I remember the issue being raised about John, Robert and/or Teddy Kennedy, all wealthy men. How about the Limousine Liberals in Hollywood, the press hangs onto their every word as if from Mt. Olympus, their riches don't seem to make them "out of touch." As is usually the case with the media, there is a double standard.
When a democrat is rich their motives and character are just assumed to be as pure as newly fallen snow. But if a Republican is rich, their motives are always suspect, and assumed to be evil in their intent until proven otherwise. How about you Diane Sawyer?
I am sure you are worth many millions of dollars, are you too out of touch to be even be asking the question? (i POSTED THIS ON ABC'S NIGHTLINE'S FACEBOOK PAGE)

The Mitt Romney You Don't Know

By Jesse Merkel

With Rick Santorum out of the race, the GOP nomination is assured for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Many feel Romney is a ‘Ken Doll’candidate, a robotic, emotionless flip-flopper who has no consistency and no heart. But, in reality, the truth is quite different.
Because conservatives nominated a moderate last time around and got their clocks cleaned for it, they’re understandably skittish about making the same mistake again. John McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts, wanted to shut down Guantanamo, and was very much pro-amnesty. (It’s a wonder President Obama didn’t try to hire him after the election.) While Romney was governor, he slashed spending, vetoed a bill for embryonic stem cell research, and submitted budgets each year that included tax cuts. The government only raised taxes when the state legislature (which was 85% Democratic) overrode Romney.
In 2008, Romney represented the conservative alternative. Romneycare was there for everyone to see. Romney spoke against national health care then just as he has now, and as he did in 1994 when debating Ted Kennedy.

Santorum and Gingrich capitalized on conservatives’ paranoia, by effectively casting Romney as a flip-flopper. But, those who bought into this rhetoric conveniently forgot that Santorum was once pro-choice, that Gingrich faced a conservative revolt in the House, and that their hero Ronald Reagan was once a New Deal Democrat.
Like many others, Romney has become more conservative as he got older. Like Reagan, Romney’s pro-life conversion came in the middle of his governorship of a very pro-choice state. The difference being that Reagan signed the bill that made him change his mind, while Romney voted for his. The fact that all of his policy changes moved from the left or center to the right should be something for conservatives to applaud, not jeer.
There are a few other things about Romney that may surprise people:
In a 1994 interview with the Boston Globe, Ann Romney revealed that she and Mitt lived in a basement apartment for a few years without much income or even carpeting. (Romney gave away the bulk of his inheritance.) While finishing up college, they continued to get by on little income, having their first child while still in that small apartment.
Ann Romney and her five sons have all talked about the fact that for the majority of their lives, there was no regular maid service, and they never had a nanny or a cook. Mitt did hire occasional housekeepers, but for personal assistant type chores, not cleaning or laundry. He employed more after Ann Romney was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
In 1996, a partner at Bain Capital named Robert Gay informed Romney that his 14-year-old daughter Melissa had been missing in New York City for three days. Romney chose to close down the firm and take its 30-plus partners and employees to New York to assist in the search, on his own dime. He set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott, coordinated with the NYPD, set up a toll free number for tips, and contacted a private detective firm. Romney also had business contacts in NYC put up posters all over the city.
A young boy called in asking if there was a reward, hanging up shortly after. The NYPD was able to trace the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found Gay’s daughter huddled in a basement, going through withdrawal symptoms. This became the subject of a campaign ad put forth by the Romney campaign.
In 2003, then-Governor Romney was enjoying a vacation at New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee with his family. There the Morrissey’s, a family from Tewksbury, were on their vintage wooden boat about 300 yards off shore. Seeing the boat sinking from shore, Romney and two of his sons hopped on jet skis and went out to save all six people and the family dog that may have otherwise drowned.
In 2007, California was being ravaged by wildfires. While on the campaign trail, Romney and his sons stopped abruptly and picked up chainsaws and shovels, so they could assist with removing a big tree that had suffered from fire damage. They asked that the images of them helping not be released, probably because Romney did not want it to look like a convenient stunt, although they later came out in 2008. The homeowners were immensely grateful.
Romney is known as a good businessman, the man who saved the Salt Lake City Olympics, an effective campaigner, and a vicious debater, but many people do not know about the man who sees a problem and feels a compulsory urge to solve it. Many people would not have gone to the lengths Mitt did to save Robert Gay’s daughter Melissa, who would have otherwise died from an overdose, or miss a fundraiserto help people remove a damaged tree.
Why hasn't the Romney campaign spoken more openly of these incidents? An over-inflated sense of modesty, perhaps, or a fear of being labeled a braggart? Romney knows that because of his wealth and success, anything he says could be taken as boasting.
People should know who Mitt Romney really is, and if he doesn’t want to say it then people like me will.

Boycott Maher

By Christopher Mason
I personally am fed up with Bill Maher and because of it, I've canceled my HBO options through my cable company and am going to boycott every single company that he works with or even does an interview with. With that being said, we should all do the same. There is not a single show on HBO that is worth paying for so long as Bill Maher has his time to spread his vile hate speech against the right.

We've had to deal with the true crisis with women coming from a known feminist and lesbian Hilary Rosen and now we have to deal with Bill Maher who constantly attacks women on the right. The left would claim that he has nothing to do with their party, despite giving $1,000,000 to a PAC or the fact that he had been at one point invited to a dinner which, was then canceled after being put under the spotlight. It's time that we start playing the game the left has been playing for far too long.

Rush Limbaugh makes a comment that is relatively correct, only a slut gets paid to have sex, and a woman is asking for money to pay for her contraception... sounds a little more sane than say... ""No one is denying that being a mother is a tough job; I remember I was a handful," he said. "But you know there is a big difference between being a mother, and that tough job, and getting your ass out the door at 7 a.m. when it's cold, having to deal with the boss, being in a workplace, or even if you're unhappy you can't show it for eight hour." -Bill Maher.

Bill Maher is far from being a nobody when it comes to the left. He uses his show, which no one watches yet still somehow finds soundbites on the news which is another problem all together, to spew hate speech on the right. No one is saying he needs to be shut up, let him do what he wants... What I'm saying is, let him do it using his own money and not being paid by HBO to do it. The left has tried to draw blood by attacking companies that donate money to conservatives, it's time we strike back. They've attacked conservative radio hosts and tried to get their backers to pull out, let's strike back.

I for one, will be boycotting HBO until they pull him from the air or he resigns and I advise that every conservative do the same.

EXCITEMENT DOES NOT FIX AMERICA

By Matt Yutzy
Co-Administrator
 Mitt Romney Express
Is anyone else getting tired of the Ron Paul supporters shoving in your face, about the crowds that show up at RP events? I was watching a conversation between Romney and Paul supporters. When the following comment was made by a Romney supporter the Ron Paul people all shut up :). Feel free to pass this on, I removed the name of the person that commented in order ...to protect their privacy. ......

The average Paul supporter may be more excited about Paul than the average Romney supporter is about Romney, but there are obviously millions more "un-excited" Romney supporters than excited Paul supporters. If excitement was all that mattered Paul would be winning and be ahead by 630 delegates - he's not, so it must not matter that much after all. That's OK with me though. I'm a Romney supporter and I'm not much excited about him either - but keep in mind that I don't get excited about much of anything, especially people and politicians. People that get excited about other people scare me. People that get excited about politicians are usually naive or have a hidden personal agenda.

Gov. Mitt Romney / Rep. Ron Paul
There's been a few CEO's and bosses that I've worked for that I liked, respected, and I thought they were brilliant people, but I was never "excited" about them. In the military I had the opportunity to meet the now retired General Peter Schoomaker - commander of the special forces with Joint Special Operations Command, former Army Chief of staff, and an absolute amazing man. I also served under his younger brother, the then Colonel Eric Schoomaker (now Lieutenant General and Surgeon General of the Army). The latter was one of the smartest most dedicated individuals I've ever met or worked for in my entire life, and would have marched into war with him in a heartbeat. But again, was never truly excited about him either. I don't put my excitement into many other people - with the exception of my wife and family.

President Barack Obama
Excitement scares me - people that get excited about other people (especially politicians) scare me even more as they tend to be blinded by ideology and don't think everything through. Millions were excited about Obama as well - enough said.

I'll admit that Romney is a boring, calculating man - hell, he's a stiff. That being said, the most effective people I've ever worked for or worked with were the same way. They were generally boring, but self-motivated, driven people - but they got stuff done and they didn't need the excitement and cheerleaders to give them pep talks, when things didn't go their way. I like boring - boring is good.

As to faith - I have faith in no man. If you have faith in any man (especially a politician), you are destined to suffer great disappointment. No matter who wins, we need to keep up the pressure on anyone and everyone that gets elected or we are doomed as a country.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANN ROMNEY!

We at Mitt Romney Express would like to wish the future First Lady of The United States Ann Romney a well deserved Happy Birthday.
Ann, because of mothers like you, American sons and daughters are better workers, better students, better husbands, better wives and most of all, better people.
Thank you Ann, for all that you have done for your Family, you are role model to all mothers and a credit to Motherhood.
You make all of us very proud.............

Could Obama’s administration be attempting to shift Americans’ focus to “A RELATIVELY SAFE but PASSIONATE” issue?

President Barack Obama
By Vanderbrink Mardell

Could Obama’s administration be attempting to shift Americans’ focus to “A RELATIVELY SAFE but PASSIONATE” issue?
Most of us understand that a strategist is not a key player in any political party and that the stay-at-home-moms rank highest among the conservative and the independent voters. A slam against any (wealthy or not wealthy) stay-at-home mom angers these voter If I was in Obama’s camp I’d want to get the conservatives and independents off the facts of what Obama has been doing and riled up on the issue of “stay-at-home-mom” because then Obama, his wife and others could rush to disagree and there’s the attempt to win the votes that Obama needs for re-election….. has everyone missed the fact that it is indeed odd that the opinion of an unimportant strategist regarding a stay-at-home-mom is more talked about than Obama’s hot mic whisperings to the Russian President.. Consider the following and you decide if we should be talking about the ease Ann Romney had as an at-home-mom or should we be remembering, investigating and talking about…….
In 2009 Obama scrapped the long awaited missile defense system for Poland and the Czech Republic because Russia objected.
• In 2009 Obama scrapped NASA and all of the future technological advances sure to be developed by NASA which would keep the US on the cutting edge of defense technology. He instructed the NASA hierarchy to focus on outreach to Muslim nations. Nearly 75% of the advances which we have made in aerospace have come from the technology created by the space program; which has now been flushed down the toilet by the America-hating Obama.
• He has refused to keep secret the technical data on the U.S Standard Missile-3, as called for in the 2012 defense authorization bill.
• Obama will not pledge to keep American missile technology from China, North Korea and Iran, as it would “…interfere with [his] constitutional authority to conduct foreign affairs…” Really? We need to give the Communists our missile technology as a condition to talks about human rights and world peace?
Obama with  Medvedev
• Obama will provide Russia information on every Trident missile supplied to Great Britain as part of an arms control deal signed with Russian President Medvedev.
• Leaked cables show that the US will now provide Russia with ALL serial numbers of Trident missiles transferred to Britain.
• Obama proposes the United States CUT its nuclear arsenal by 80%, yet demands no reciprocity on the part of Russia or any of America’s enemies.
• Joe Miller, 2010 US Senate candidate from Alaska, reports that, under the guise of drawing a boundary, 7 Alaska-area islands and oil rich sea beds containing perhaps billions of barrels were given to Russia in an unannounced, secret deal by Obama’s State Department.
Under Obama’s programs, by 2016, defense will account for 20% of the national budget, yet bear over HALF of the deficit-reduction cuts.
In mid-March, Obama declared he would “…provide the Russians with detailed technical information about the anti- missile systems he plans to base in Eastern Europe…”
And Congressman Darrell Issa said that “the American people should be very afraid,” continuing with “I judge that in fact he is going to sell out our national defense after the election.”
Who cares if Mitt Romney can afford to have his children’s stay-at-home-mom have one nanny or fourteen…that’s not going to impact our nation’s survival but what will impact our nation’s survival is that this man can use those same economic business skills and strategies to get the United States back on good economic ground. --go to www.issa.house.gov and also Google Representative  Communists . We all need to start reading, gathering facts and thinking about what it means if Obama is re-elected … Have we all lost our minds??? IF OBAMA IS RE-ELECTED, THE COST WILL BE TOO HIGH !! The cost will be our freedom, our constitution and our culture but most importantly, the costs of our behavior and mind-set will fall upon the lives of our children and grandchildren.

Responding to another writer that stated that Romney cannot win because he is Mormon

By S.J. Husak
Today I was responding to another writer that stated that Mitt Romney cannot win because the Democrats will attack him for being a Mormon. This writer said Newt Gingrich will still take this to the Tampa Convention. Anybody that really thinks 8 weeks is enough time for the eventual nominee to mount a proper campaign against an incumbent President needs their head examined. Here is part of my ultimate response:

"A man's religion has nothing to do with being a great POTUS, either. Have you ever read Governor Romney's bio? I'll take his history over a DC insider anytime. But as I said, Speaker Gingrich lost me when he started promising big new expenditures...including the moon, LITERALLY, as he campaigned state to state. Then he attacked Governor Romney for being a capitalist. Romney's record of turning around failing and under-performing businesses is phenomenal...over a 65% success record. Sure he had to lay people off, to save the jobs of the remainder...rather than losing all of them! Remember, I was a turnaround guy myself for 19 years! Also, Romney blew his doors off in the Florida debate.

"I have read everything there is to read about Speaker Gingrich and like him a lot, but he lacks the temperament to be a President, (go read some of the things he said on the House Floor about President being a failure) and besides...this round of the elections is over. Let's not forget that Speaker Gingrich also endorsed RomneyCare and toured America with the ultimate frigging nutcase, Nancy Pelosi speaking about saving the world from man made global warming. I was an office holder when Reagan was President, I remember then Congressman Gingrich all too well.

"The bottom line is if Speaker Gingrich was REALLY smart he'd endorse Governor Romney and will make a great Energy Secretary in the Romney Administration.

"BTW, Romney attained both a JD and an MBA simultaneously at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. I understand fewer than a dozen other students have ever managed to accomplish that! Don't sell this man short, he is brilliant. Nothing against educators, but I will take Governor Romney's real world experience over a guy that spent his life in academia and government...in fact, we already have a POTUS with that background.

"Like I said, this is over anyway. Time to support our next great Conservative President, Mitt Romney!" ~sj hUSAk At Large

Ann Romney's Sweetheart Deal / She Decided Her Love of 30 Years Should be Senator

By Tim Shaw Sr.
This is a portion of a 1994 Boston Globe interview did
with Ann Romney when Mitt was running for the
Senate in MASS. She talks about Ann and Miit's early
married years at BYU. We come away with a much
better sense of them as regular struggling newly
weds. It reminds me of my own early married years at
 BYU.

"What attracted me to Mitt was his sense of humor. He was funny, and fun to be with. No matter where he was, there was a lot of action. In high school, we water-skied almost every day. He taught me to water ski, I taught him to snow ski. When he went to Stanford, his parents didn't want him to work. They wanted him to concentrate on studies. So, the first thing he did was get a job as chauffeur on campus, and made enough money so he could fly home and see me.

"He didn't want his parents to know. They had no idea he was coming home weekends. Mitt's father was governor and staying in Lansing, so Mitt just stayed at the family house. Once we ended up at a party and saw Mitt's parents, but they didn't see us, because as soon as we saw them, we made a U-turn and left."

In 1966, Mitt decided to interrupt his education for 30 months of missionary service for the Mormon Church in France.

"Did I feel smothered by Mitt? No. I had boys pursuing me and I dated while Mitt was gone, but I was never interested in anyone else. Mitt really stole my heart from the very first."

Raised as an Episcopalian, Ann waited until Mitt was abroad before she joined the Mormon Church.

"Mitt didn't want me to join just for him, and he didn't want me to be influenced by him. What drew me to it? When Mitt and I were dating, I'd ask him what he believed in, and I was touched by his faith and by the precepts."

On the day of his return in November 1968, waiting at the Detroit airport with 30 of his relatives, Ann was apprehensive. Would he feel the same? Would she?

"When he walked off the plane, he made a beeline for me, grabbed me and barely spoke to anyone else. On the drive home, we were jammed in the back of a station wagon for an hour and a remarkable thing happened. It was as though time dissolved and we were back where we'd been years earlier. By the time we got home, we were talking marriage."

With the exception of Mitt's father, everyone in the family was so shocked that a meeting was held to dissuade the young lovers.

As Mitt recalled a few days ago, "Ann's mother said she was convinced I was not good enough for Ann, and actually, as time went on, she remained convinced of it. She used to say that Ann is an angel, and the amazing thing is that Ann is an angel. I can't think of a weakness. She really is extraordinary."

Mitt and Ann prevailed, however. Because Mitt's father had been governor of Michigan and a presidential candidate, the wedding in March 1969 had political flavor. Among 250 guests was former President Ford. President Nixon wired congratulations.

After a honeymoon in Hawaii, Ann returned to studies at Brigham Young University, and Mitt joined her for a semester, fell in love with BYU and transferred from Stanford.

"They were not easy years. You have to understand, I was raised in a lovely neighborhood, as was Mitt, and at BYU, we moved into a $62-a-month basement apartment with a cement floor and lived there two years as students with no income.

"It was tiny. And I didn't have money to carpet the floor. But you can get remnants, samples, so I glued them together, all different colors. It looked awful, but it was carpeting.

"We were happy, studying hard. Neither one of us had a job, because Mitt had enough of an investment from stock that we could sell off a little at a time.

"The stock came from Mitt's father. When he took over American Motors, the stock was worth nothing. But he invested Mitt's birthday money year to year -- it wasn't much, a few thousand, but he put it into American Motors because he believed in himself. Five years later, stock that had been $6 a share was $96 and Mitt cashed it so we could live and pay for education.

"Mitt and I walked to class together, shared housekeeping, had a lot of pasta and tuna fish and learned hard lessons.

"I made a mistake in taking a class with him, then decided never again. He graduated first in his class, and he's so extraordinarily bright that he was always the brightest. If you were in his class, he'd bring down your grade, blow the curve.

"We had our first child in that tiny apartment. We couldn't afford a desk, so we used a door propped on sawhorses in our bedroom. It was a big door, so we could study on it together. And we bought a portable crib, took the legs off and put it on the desk while we studied. I had a baby sitter during class time, but otherwise, I'd hold my son on my lap while I studied.

"The funny thing is that I never expected help. My father had become wealthy through hard work, as did Mitt's father, but I never expected our parents to take care of us. They'd visit, laugh and say, `We can't believe you guys are living like this.' They'd take us out to dinner, have a good time, then leave.

"We stayed till Mitt graduated in 1971, and when he was accepted at Harvard Law, we came east. He was also accepted at Harvard Business School as part of a joint program that admits 25 a year, so he was getting degrees from Harvard Law and Business schools at the same time.

"Remember, we'd been paying $62 a month rent, but here, rents were $400, and for a dump. This is when we took the now-famous loan that Mitt talks about from his father and bought a $42,000 home in Belmont, and you know? The mortgage payment was less than rent. Mitt saw that the Boston market was behind Chicago, LA and New York. We stayed there seven years and sold it for $90,000, so we not only stayed for free, we made money. As I said, Mitt's very bright.

"Another son came along 18 months later, although we waited four years to have the third, because Mitt was still in school and we had no income except the stock we were chipping away at. We were living on the edge, not entertaining. No, I did not work. Mitt thought it was important for me to stay home with the children, and I was delighted.

"Right after Mitt graduated in 1975, we had our third boy and it was about the time Mitt's first paycheck came along. So, we were married a long time before we had any income, about five years as struggling students. Mitt had offers in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, but we loved Boston. One thing led to another, and he went from Boston Consulting Group to Bain & Co., where he became an extraordinarily young partner.

"Now, every once in a while, we say if things get rough, we can go back to a $62-a-month apartment and be happy. All we need is each other and a little corner and we'll be fine."

A Simple Way To Destroy Obama's New Attack Ad On RomneyCare

Recently, the Obama Campaign team released a new ad titled, "The Anniversary of Romneycare" in which it attacks Mitt Romney's for supporting the individual mandate at the state level but wants to repeal the individual mandate at the national level.
Here is the clip below:

The Romney Campaign is well known for rapidly responding to political attacks from campaign rivals can simply refute this ad by simply airing this clip on nation wide:

The video clip isn't the first time Obama has objected to the individual mandate. Back in 2008, when Obama was running for President, he supported a health care reform proposal that didn't not include the individual mandate because he had concerns about how the individual mandate was a slippery slope that could lead the government to think that they can solve homelessness by mandating that everyone buy a house.
All the Romney media team has to do is throw Obama's own words back at him. This would be very effective since it would show Obamaflip flopping on the individual mandate. Moreover, it would cause the voters across this country to wonder if Obama was so strongly opposed to the individual mandate in 2008, why would he include it in his own health care plan? The only conclusion that the viewers will draw from that question is that Obama must have disingenuously opposed it for political reasons rather than having any sincere objections to it.
