Investigating Sarah Palin's Mysterious Delegate Packages At The GOP Convention

I have received numerous messages from various people asking me if I could verify a claim made by a Ron Paul blogger named "wincap" that supporters of Sarah Palin are going around at the Ron Paul events in Tampa Florida and passing out or mailing packages attempting to woo Paul supporters/delegates into voting for Sarah Palin in the event that a brokered convention occurs:

Sara Palin is in town and playing games, she is trying to steal the nomination, she sent out packets to all of the delegates asking them to vote for her if there is a brokered convention and she is trying to cause a brokered convention. I spoke to delegates at my booth who said they received the packet. None of our delegates will vote for her, putting my dislike for her aside, if she helps with a brokered convention I am fine with it because I think we could win a brokered convention.

I can confirm the source of where these packets might be coming from. There is a news report of a pro-Palin group called The Earthquake Movement who appear to be the source of these delegate packets: 

According to an email from a representative of The Earthquake Movement, the group has sent informational packets to delegates around the country, asking them to be one of the five required majority state delegations needed to nominate Palin in the first round of voting at the Republican National Convention. The packets also ask for delegates to nominate Palin in the second round if presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney does not receive the required number of delegates in the first round.

The Earthquake Movement has also distributed information on Palin's "record, accomplishments and why we think she is the person who can excite the base and defeat President Obama in November."

"We are finding a lot of unhappy Republican voters," the email said. "They feel like the RNC is not listening to them and based on voter turn out in the primaries and what we are hearing from Conservative Americans, they want her to emerge from the convention as the nominee. They are also very angry that she was not given a prime time speaking spot at the convention and are wondering if the RNC is attempting to shut her out because her message resonates with so many of us fly-overs. Are they afraid if she speaks prior to the vote or at all, we will have an averted Reagan experience?" 

One California Ron Paul supporter who is a delegate has claimed that he received the package in the mail:

In fact, if you look at one of the pages of The Earthquake Movement's website, you can see them making a pitch to delegates on the legality of nominating Sarah Palin as the GOP nominee and encouraging them to take a stand to nominate her. They also encourage the delegates to buck the system and they support an "open convention" (brokered convention). They also have a blog called A Servant's Heart which puts up much of the information found on the website on the blog.

On the The Earthquake Movement's facebook page, you can see a post of them discussing the packages and their strategy for making a brokered convention happen: 

Thus, it is highly likely that members of this group may have been at the GOP Convention distributing these packets to potential delegates who are supporters of Ron Paul. Given that the existence of these packages, it may be a matter of time before the contents of these packages show up on the news or on a blog site. I know that contents of the packages are somewhere on line since I have seen people talk about reading the documents and watching a DVD on the the Internet. Perhaps someone can put the entire contents of the package on a blog or send it to me.

What I find interesting is that there are two kinds of politicians. First, there those those who put party above themselves such as Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum who both have released their delegates to Mitt Romney. Then there are politicians who put themselves above the party such as Sarah Palin and Ron Paul who have no delegates yet have said nothing or done nothing to stop their supporters who wish to circumvent the nomination process by attempting to engineer a brokered convention to nominate someone other than candid

Dear Delegates:

With the Republican National Convention beginning in Tampa within the next few days, it is time now for all Republicans to come together in common purpose to defeat President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Everyone must do their part and Callista and I are committed to doing everything that we can.

Toward that end, I hereby release all delegates bound or pledged to me under any and all state laws or party rules. At the same time, I call upon them and all Americans committed to a safer and more prosperous American future to join Callista and me in strongly supporting the Romney-Ryan ticket. Together, we can and will defeat Barack Obama in November.

Rick Santorum Suspends His Campaign

Rick Santorum must have had a change of heart in deciding to stay in the race to now dropping out of the race because prior to his announcement that he was suspending his campaign, Rick Santorumcalled Mitt Romney to concede the race. In response to this news, Mitt Romney praised Rick Santorum for being an “able and worthy competitor." Newt Gingrich has stubbornly refused to drop out of the race and is courting Rick Santorum's supporters to back him in the race: 

Newt Gingrich praised Rick Santorum’s “remarkable campaign” Tuesday after the former Pennsylvania senator bowed out of the presidential race, and Gingrich invited Santorum’s supporters into his own camp.

“I am committed to staying in this race all the way to Tampa so that the conservative movement has a real choice,” Gingrich said in a statement. “I humbly ask Senator Santorum’s supporters to visit Newt.org to review my conservative record and join us as we bring these values to Tampa. We know well that only a conservative can protect life, defend the Constitution, restore jobs and growth and return to a balanced budget.”

Gingrich has conceded he has little chance of securing the 1,144 delegates needed to win the Republican nomination outright. Late last month, his campaign announced it was shedding a third of its staff, and the former House speaker also has pledged to back front-runner Mitt Romney, if Romney becomes the nominee.

But Gingrich is holding out hope that he can attract enough votes from Santorum supporters to prevent Romney from reaching 1,144 delegates before August and that he can win the GOP nomination at a contested Republican National Convention.

However, Newt Gingrich's chances of getting enough delegates to become the Republican nominee or force a brokered convention is slim or impossible. Currently, Romney has 661 delegates while Newt Gingrich only has 136 delegates. Even if Rick Santorum gave all of his 285 delegates to Newt, he would only have 421 delegates. As a result, he would still be far behind Mitt Romney. However, it is not likely that Newt Gingrich will pick up any more delegates since his campaign is so in debt that they can't even afford the $500 check to get on the Utah ballot. I highly doubt Newt can wage a competitive campaign that would seriously challenge Mitt Romney. 

If you're wondering what will happen to Rick Santorum's delegates now that he's out of the race, you'll be surprised to learn that Rick Santorum cannot gift his delegates to any competitor but will become free agents in which they can support any candidates they choose: 

Santorum has 285 delegates, according to the latest ABC News delegate estimate, second to Mitt Romney’s 661. He captured the majority of them by winning 10 states–11 if you count Missouri’s nonbinding primary, which the candidate counted in his bowing-out speech today.

But some of those delegates were never really “his.”  ABC estimates that 78 Santorum delegates, from his wins in states that don’t “award” their delegates – Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and North Dakota, would have been free to support any candidate at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Another two of Santorum’s delegates were Republican National Committee superdelegates, who will attend the convention by virtue of their positions in the party, and are also free to support whomever they choose in Tampa.

Santorum won seven more delegates from unbound caucus states Washington and Wyoming.

He won another 10 delegates from Illinois, where they would not be required by state or national-party rule to vote for Santorum in Tampa, either, although Santorum’s campaign presented their names and qualifying signatures to the state board of elections.

That leaves 188 Santorum delegates heading to Tampa. They’ll be required to vote for him, unless he chooses to release them, according to state-party rules.

Even if Santorum endorses Romney, that doesn’t mean he can gift all of his delegates to his former rival.  Should Santorum elect to release his delegates, they’ll become free agents, able to support whichever candidate they choose.

I think a majority of Santorum's delegates will ultimately back Mitt Romney. Some will still vote for Santorum at the Republican convention while others will support Newt Gingrich. However, now that Rick Santorum is out of the race, it is safe to say that the 2012 primary elections are over and Mitt Romney will become the Republican challenger to President Obama.

The Wisconsin Republican Primary is only a few days away and former Governor Mitt Romney has received multiple endorsements this week that will no doubt have pushed him closer to winning this election and hopefully, closer to the Presidency. One of the questions that comes with these endorsements is, why now?

Well the answer to that is simple enough, why not? Wisconsin moved their primary up from where it normally would have been. This means that not only is it rare for Wisconsin to make a difference but this election in it's own has been different for most of the states were proportional. This means that whoever got X amount of the vote would also receive X amount of the delegates up for state from that state. 

This is different in comparison to Wisconsin which is a winner takes all state. Rick Santorum just weeks ago was leading Romney in Wisconsin which is a relatively blue collar state. The endorsement from Marco Rubio comes at a crucial time for Mitt Romney and it will help him capitalize on the failing campaigns of Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. 

This week alone Newt Gingrich has let go of 1/3rd of his staff, and his campaign staff manager. He swears that this will help him on his path to the nomination but the problem that many see here is that the Republican party is at odds with themselves. As a precursor, Newt Gingrich has also said that he expects Rick Santorum and himself will welcome Mitt Romney as the nominee with open arms if he can get to that magic delegate count. What I, nor many others who are watching this campaign, can understand is why are you even dragging this race out? Why doesn't Newt and Rick Santorum just back out now and give Mitt Romney the nomination. (We all know he's going to be the nominee.)

Marco Rubio endorsing Mitt Romney when he did, shortly after Rick Santorum's rant about his words being taken out of context and something about bullshit, comes at a pivotal time. Rick Santorum has been referenced as before, a hot head. He has at various times fueled the argument by many on the left that we stick to our religion and that's that. He is a terrible candidate. Religion is not supposed to be forced upon someone else and you can see that with Mitt Romney, he doesn't force Mormonism on us.

When Mitt Romney was governor of my state her in MA he didn't force candy taxes the way our current governor has contemplated, same with soda, we now have a new tax on beer, which for Mitt Romney would have been easy things to do because as a Mormon he doesn't like taking anything that would effect the human body such as sugar, caffeine, tobacco, ect., If Rick Santorum was not so radical he might have had a chance, but now with all these key endorsements coming out it helps to play with the fact that Romney can energize the base. 

The best endorsement right now for Mitt Romney is the endorsement of Congressmen Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. This is a big endorsement, maybe even bigger than that of Marco Rubio and the only reason I say that is Rubio did not endorse when Romney was running for Florida or even Puerto Rico which it may have helped to sway it a little more. Paul Ryan endorsed a little under a week of the Wisconsin Primary which does help to shape those who take what their legislators recommend at face value. This also is great for those people who are on the fence and really like Paul Ryan and hearing him back Romney over Santorum, it does show that Santorum's credibility is gone. 

Mitt Romney has stated he believes he is going to win the Wisconsin Primary. At the moment, Romney has estimated 565 delegates. He is almost halfway there to the 1,144 needed to win the nomination. The District of Columbia and Maryland also have primaries on Tuesday and Mitt Romney is expected to win all of them bringing him closer to the nomination. Then later on in the month states like Connitecut, New York, and Rhode Island are all projected to go to Mitt Romney with Pennsylvania being a large toss up state.

The Real Agenda of Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich And Rick Santorum

Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum are determined to stay in the race even if the chances of them winning the Republican nomination grows slim with each passing election contest. All of the candidates know this but they're not in the race to become President. Each one of them have an agenda. 

Ron Paul

Ron Paul's chances of winning the Republican nomination is extremely low. He hasn't a won a single primary or caucus and his unfavorability rating is quite high.  However, Ron Paul has admitted that he isn't in the race to become President but that he's in the race for the sole purpose of amassing enough delegates so that he can use his delegates as a way of getting the Republican party to adopt his libertarian views on foreign policy, economics and other issues. Recently, Ron Paul admitted on Fox News that he doesn't want the power of being the President but to have the power to influence our nation on matters he considers important. However, if that is his goal, Ron Paul has only has 50 delegates as of today. By the time the GOP convention rolls around, he won't have enough delegates and as a result will be in a inferior bargaining position in attempting to negotiate with the Republican party into adopting  his views on the national platform.

Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich's chances of winning the Republican nomination is also extremely low. He's only won two Republican nominations and he only has 135 delegates as of today. He also has amazingly high unfavorability ratings of 60%. Regardless, Newt Gingrich is determined to press forward by bypassing the primary process and winning at the convention by getting the delegates to switch their votes to Newt.  Joe DeSantis, the campaign’s communications director, explains Gingrich's new election strategy:

The idea, Mr. DeSantis said, is to persuade unpledged delegates and those who have backed another candidate to see Mr. Gingrich as the best challenger to face President Obama. 

Joe DeSaintis elaborates more on their new election strategy: 

 “We believe that if Governor Romney is unable to secure 1,144 by the last primaries, he will be unable to do so at the convention where the vast majority of the delegates are conservative,” DeSantis said. “That creates [an] environment at the convention where Gingrich can emerge as the one candidate who can unite social, economic and national security conservatives (a fact which is borne out by polling).”

Newt Gingrich's agenda is pretty obvious. He is remaining in the race out of pure revenge and will do anything he can to prevent Mitt Romney from winning the nomination:

Joe DeSantis said Gingrich's decision to lay off staff and replace his campaign manager was a reorganization that would enable him to fight on to the Republican National Convention in the summer and win the nomination there.

The overhaul comes as a CNN/ORC International poll released Tuesday indicated that most Republicans would like to see Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul end their White House bids.

But they want conservative challenger Rick Santorum to stay in the race.

The poll, conducted over the weekend, showed that about six in 10 Republicans wanted Gingrich and Paul to halt their campaigns, while a similar number supported Santorum continuing his bid.

DeSantis said the poll "showed that Gingrich dropping out of the race would help Mitt Romney dramatically more than it helps Rick Santorum."

This would "virtually guarantee Mitt Romney the nomination," he said, as he urged conservatives to rally behind Gingrich to keep the former Massachusetts governor from victory.

Rick Santorum has done much better in this election than Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich have. He's won 11 primary contests so far and currently has 273 delegates. However, the chances of him getting the 1,1140 delegates needed to win the Republican nomination grows slim with each primary election. The evidence is overwhelmingly clearthat the electoral math doesn't work for Rick Santorum. He cannot get the necessary 1,140 delegates needed to win. As Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post points out, there's just no way for Rick Santorum to win the Republican nomination: 

Romney still leads by about 300 delegates . With 568 delegates to Santorum’s 273 Romney, Romney needs only 576 more delegates, about 46 percent of the remaining delegates. Santorum would need to win about 70 percent, and that just isn’t going to happen.

Rick Santorum disputes the current calculation of delegates by arguing that what you hear in the news doesn't accurately reflect the delegate count:

As he struggles to keep up with frontrunner Mitt Romney and parries calls for him to drop out of the Republican presidential race, Rick Santorum has said in recent weeks that he has actually won more delegates than some media counts show.  Those counts, Santorum says, are not taking into account Republican party rules, as well as the state-level meetings that actually determine how many delegates go to each candidate.

"Here's one of the things that I can tell you I didn't know," Santorum told a small group of reporters at a breakfast in Washington Monday.  "Every single state is different.  Every state. Every single state is different.  It's different on how you get on the ballot.  It's different on their structure, how they allocate delegates, whether they are bound, whether they are unbound, when they're committed, how long they committed, how they're selected. Our math is actually based on the reality of what's going on in the states."

Now, the Santorum campaign is providing some numbers to flesh out the candidate's claims.  In a long conversation Wednesday evening, John Yob, the campaign's national and state convention director, pointed out that many high-profile primaries have been little more than beauty contests, and that delegates in many key states are actually being awarded in county, district, and state conventions, which are often dominated by conservative activists. "In that process, we are doing very well," said Yob. "The moderate candidate almost never performs better than a conservative candidate in a county, district, or state convention process."

Of course, the Romney campaign rejects Rick Santorum's claim and argue that no matter how Rick Santorum calculates the delegate math, he's still going to come up short: 

The Romney campaign strongly disputes Santorum's numbers.  In a March 22 memo -- sent out after Romney's win in Illinois but before Santorum's victory in Louisiana -- Romney political director Rich Beeson wrote that Romney led Santorum by more than 300 delegates and that Romney already had more than half of the needed 1,144 delegates. "Each day Senator Santorum continues to march up this steep hill of improbability is a day we lose to unite in our effort as Republicans to defeat President Obama," Beeson wrote.

Beeson pointed out that it is impossible for Santorum to reach the 1,144 delegate number himself.  Team Santorum doesn't really claim otherwise.  But their math is now about keeping Romney short of 1,144 -- and hoping things go their way in state conventions and, ultimately, in Tampa in August.

Despite the small chances of winning the Republican nomination through out the primary election,  Rick Santorum is going to try the same strategy as Newt Gingrich by  wooing delegates at the Republican convention: 

Arguing that neither he nor Mitt Romney will be able to sew things up by the last GOP primary in June, Santorum envisions spending July and August trying to persuade individual delegates to support him and “put together the coalition that’s necessary for you to get the 1,144.” He and his delegates would then move on to the Republican convention, scheduled to begin Aug. 27 in Tampa, Fla.

Its clear that Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are in the race because they want to become President. Each of these men are not interested in becoming leaders. They all have their own person agendas which they are placing above the American people's wishes of getting Barack Obama out of the White House. Ron Paul is running is in the race purely to change the Republican party platform from a conservative platform to a more libertarian one. Both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are aiming for the mythological brokered convention as a last ditch attempt to prevent Mitt Romney from winning the Republican nomination. 

There's only one candidate who is in the race to defeat Barak Obama and make him a one term President. Moreover, he's in the race because he wants to be the President who will be a true leader and revive America's economy. That man is Mitt Romney.

HAS IT BECOME POLITICALLY INCORRECT TO SAY ROMNEY IS WINNING?

Well, here we are again, at another "game changing state, Illinois," but we know, given the history of this primary, that when Gov. Romney wins, it changes nothing (no matter the size of the win). The media, right and left will act as if he lost it (Puerto Rico will be ignored) and it will be said "Romney just can't close the deal," and it all moves on as if Santorum won. (He did much better than expected given Romney's spending advantage... it will not be mentioned that the sign of a good candidate is the ability to have a well built organization and the ability to raise money. In Romney's case this advantage is seen as playing unfair, poor Ricky). No one will mention that Romney will have added to his substantial delegate lead and the enormous 1.2 million popular vote lead over Santorum. No one will mention that polls show that if Gingrich dropped out of the race, Santorum will only get a little over half of Newt's support and the rest will go to Romney. People like Gretchen Carlson on Fox will say incomprehensible things like, "the delegate count really doesn't matter, it's all about perception, isn't it?" (which she said the morning after TN & AL, not even mentioning HI, which I think is a state).

And we will continue to hear Santorum's delusional statements, which I'm sure started as campaign propaganda, but which he now actually believes, that there is no difference between Obama and Romney. And Santorum will continue to ignore that there is an absolute differences between Federal and State's Constitutional rights while attacking Gov. Romney's Health Reform, and accuse Romney of supporting everything the Mass Supreme Court ordered upon the State, against Romney's will... And the list goes on. Santorum will fail to remember he believed Gov. Romney to be the "True Conservative" in 2008, after his term of Governor was over. None of this will change. And, no one in the press will report it, or question him about any of it.

Yesterday, Brit Hume said it best, on the After Show Panel for Fox News Sunday, "It has become politically incorrect to say that Romney is winning, and doing a pretty good job of it." Usually, in the Republican party we don't play this Politically Correct game, We usually laugh at the liberals while they tie themselves into rhetorical knots playing it. WHY ARE THE REPUBLICANS PLAYING IT NOW? That's the question. The overwhelming majority of the rank and file members of the party are choosing Romney, WHY CAN'T THIS BE SAID? The "establishment" that controls the dissemination of news is preventing the story to be told in it's entirety. We only hear,"Romney can't close the deal." Well, the game is different this time. This time around we are playing by the proportional distribution of delegates, a new system to allow more states to have a say, to lengthen out the process. Well it has done that. This primary system was designed for no one to "close the deal" too early. But, who explains this, NO ONE. Gov. Romney, given the new rules, and with 4 candidates is doing an exceptional job!

Back to Brit Hume's observation. Why would Republicans play this despised PC game which the left plays constantly, WHY? AND, BY WHOM? Is the left planting the stories, I am sure that the MSM is, we know they support Obama and want to diminish Gov. Romney's stature. But why are the facts being distorted, or not told, in the conservative media? Romney governed as a consistent conservative as Governor. "Who's who" in conservatism supported Gov. Romney in 2008, even Santorum, what has changed since? I just don't understand. To be Politically Correct (PC) means to offer only a set of facts which supports the orthodox or accepted narrative, to expose facts which support an alternative narrative causes one to be shunned by the established powers and to be labeled an outcast of accepted society (in this case the Conservative Republican Party). Why would we allow this sort of thing into our party? Is it the personnel ego's of Santorum and Gingrich that are bring this PC insanity into the party? Anti-PC is just a matter of presenting the facts as they are, not siding with a certain candidate. But, bias has entered the picture. This is the story, this is the question. Why? and by Who? Who is going to going to write that story?

Seeing Barack Obama's Sagging Poll Numbers, GOP Candidates Give Up and Go Home

 This week a New York Times/CBS poll showed that President Barack Obama’s approval rating had sunk down from nearly 50% to 41% in one month. A Washington Post-ABC News poll also shows Obama’s disapproval number at a solid 50%. These and other polls have shown the president in an increasingly vulnerable position during his reelection campaign.

After seeing the news on Obama’s sagging poll numbers, all four of the remaining Republican candidates collectively decided that it was hopeless, and suspended their campaigns.

“I just don’t see how any of us can possibly beat President Obama,” said GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney. Romney went on to say that his worst fears were recognized when he saw a recent poll showing him beating Obama nationally, 48% to 43%. The sad-faced former Massachusetts governor later on was spotted skulking back onto his tour bus with a beer in his hand.

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, fresh off of his victories in Alabama and Mississippi, said that despite his recent gains, he has decided to get out for the good of the country. The dispirited Senator believed that he could no longer stand in the presidents way, especially after a new poll showed a majority of Americans now agreed with the idea that employers should be able to opt out of providing birth control coverage if they so chose.

“I could have worked for Planned Parenthood,” Santorum was overheard saying, as he and his wife boarded a plane for Tijuana, Mexico.

After suspending his campaign, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich announced several campaign appearances with Obama. Gingrich shooed reporters out of his hotel room, citing the need to hurry and write a few historical facts from 1834 into his next speech.

Texas Congressman Ron Paul, meanwhile, after suspending his campaign released a statement to the press announcing his immediate resignation from the House of Representatives.

“After seeing how a majority of people still want ObamaCare repealed, I know I just cannot continue to oppose President Obama," Paul said. “After speaking with the president, I understand the necessity of his health care law costing over $1.76 trillion dollars over 10 years. I also understand his policies regarding Iran and Libya as well, and he has my full support.” Paul later hinted after the cameras were turned off that he planed to submit his candidacy for the position of Fed Chairman.

All four of the former GOP candidates announced that they would be changing their party registration as soon as time permitted, for the good of the country. None of them could seem to recall how they ever could have opposed Obama in the first place.

For over 42 years now I have actively followed the politics of this great country in which we live and I can honestly say, that in all that time I have witnessed a lot of things, some I like and some I didn’t like but for the most part it was just politics.

Having said that, I will now tell you that I have never in all my days seen the likes of what it happening in this country today and when this is all over, I pray that no other generation will see this again.

There are several things I want to point out. The first is that the GOP of the past would never have allowed for things happening today to go on. I was shocked that after an investigation of campaign illegal issues that nothing is to be done. Newt Gingrich has crossed the line time after time, and yet they allow him to continue without even a public reprimand,
or penalty. Santorum has been caught on camera (undeniable proof) and witnessed by millions to having his super-PAC not only in contact with him, but also on stage.
Again, nothing is done. This is disgraceful and really puts the GOP in a bad light.

Now I want to talk about the debates for a moment. From the very first debate up until the debate Wednesday night Mitt Romney has been under attack. That is not what debates are about. What I find most interesting is that the attacks are encouraged by the Media and the hosts that oversee the debates. Yet, Mitt, being the man that he is, has withstood all the attacks and in most cases come out the winner. Even so, no candidate should have to go through this type of campaigning. It also reflects poorly on America and the American people.
Four years ago, I witnessed an election that bewildered me for many reasons, but the greatest was that the American people were duped not only by the DNC but the media, as well. You would think after that, Americans would have learned something, but evidently not.

Now we are in a fight for America as we know it. Not a socialist society as many would push us to. Our Constitution that has been the backbone of the democracy we so cherish is being torn to shreds, courts are corrupt, there is no trust left for anyone in Washington. Our rights and liberties are being trampled behind closed doors and still we do nothing but worry about who’s right and who’s wrong in a statement they may of made years ago. Where are our priorities? How come we have let this country and the people of this country take us to this point!
We lose our focus when we debate whether money given to help the Olympics ( a national event that benefits all of America) is the same as an earmark that gives taxpayer monies to (one state) for something as trivial as a teapot museum or a bridge to no where that just duped the American people out of more funds.
I say enough is enough! We, the American people rally together when disaster strikes like the 9/11 tragedy. Well, the tragedy we face today is not from the outside but from forces within, and we had better start rallying to unite now. Or the price we pay will be far greater then anyone can imagine.

As governor of one of the most liberal states in the union, Mitt Romney did something even Ronald Reagan didn't do as governor of California: He balanced the budget without raising taxes. 

Romney became deeply pro-life as governor of the aforementioned liberal state and vetoed an embryonic stem cell bill. (Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich lobbied President George W. Bush to allow embryonic stem cell research.)

Romney's approach to illegal immigration in Massachusetts resembled what Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona is doing today, making her a right-wing heroine.

Romney pushed the conservative alternative to national health care that, had it been adopted in the 49 other states, would have killed Obamacare in the crib by solving the health insurance problem at the state level.

Unlike actual Establishment candidates, Romney has never worked in Washington, much less spent his entire life as a professional politician. He's had a Midas touch with every enterprise he has ever run, including Bain Capital, the Olympics and Massachusetts.

The chestnut about Mitt Romney being pushed on unsuspecting conservatives by "the Establishment" is the exact opposite of the truth. The Establishment, by any sensible definition, is virulently opposed to Romney -- and for completely contradictory reasons.

The entire NFM (non-Fox media) hate Romney because he is the only candidate who stands a chance of beating Obama.

Meanwhile, many of the pillars of the conservative establishment also implacably oppose Romney. Fox News is neutral, but its second-highest-rated host, Sean Hannity, is anti-Romney, as is prominent Fox News contributor Sarah Palin -- who has also offered herself up as a possible presidential nominee at a contested convention. (Wouldn't a former candidate for vice president on a major party's ticket be part of the Establishment?)

The No. 1 conservative talk-radio host in America, Rush Limbaugh, is critical of Romney, and another top conservative talk-radio host, Mark Levin, is adamantly against Romney -- though both Limbaugh and Levin supported Romney as the conservative alternative to John McCain in 2008, and Romney has only gotten better since then.

A LETTER TO THE TEA PARTY / FROM A ROMNEY SUPPORTER

To Tea Party America, I need to get something off my chest so let me start by saying that I am a Mitt Romney supporter and a former member of the Tea Party. I am also a strong social, fiscal and foreign policy conservative and am not wishy-washy on any of these core principles.

I believe in a strong America with sovereign borders and the rule of law, I believe in the sanctity of marriage, and I believe in protecting innocent unborn life.

But why are we even talking about a tea party and what happened that we even needed to rebel against our own government?

We were BAMBOOZLED, that's why !  After a collapse of the banking system and a disastrous recession for many, the Democrats were swept into power, the were led by a charismatic and inexperienced Community Organizer named Barrack Hussein Obama, whose call for hope and change connected with the majority of the American people giving him a chance to really do something great and historic for this country.

But this adoration for President Obama did not last long as he and the Democratic controlled House and Senate started their Socialist experiment on an unsuspecting American people who simply wanted things to get better. President Obama and the Democrats went on a spending spree like no other in the history of this country, starting with a budget busting and unwanted Obama Health Care mandate to the almost 800 billion stimulus package that did not work. He and the Democrats continued the insult by giving billions of dollars in loans to crony green companies while raising the national debt to critical status, forcing a downgrade of our Triple A Bond ratings while getting us closer to a bankrupted economy.


People all around America were losing their jobs, inflation was starting to hit the grocery shelves, their bank accounts cleaned out and many were losing their homes, all this while their President, ignorant of their plight kept on spending. While the country was burning President Obama was often found on the golf course and many times he would take his family around the world on lavish family vacations costing millions to the already suffering national debt. We were being abused and ignored!

 Then one obscure morning in one of his scheduled spots, CNBC analyst Rick Santelli goes hog wild with an on-air attack against President Obama's government bailouts of banks, car companies and in trouble debt mortgage holders using tax payer money, during his rant Santelli called for a modern-day Boston Tea Party, this not only got a unanimous applause from the trading floor, but gave the name and the mythical birth of the modern day Tea Party.


The thought of a Tea Party was growing and coming to fruition, it was going to represent a huge block of dissatisfied and very angry Americans who felt that they were being used and ignored.
We had folks from all walks of life, we had  http://evelio-perez.blogspot.com/  and people from all ages, races and religions, we finally have had enough and were ready to fight to get our country back.
The true beauty of this great idea was that it had no leaders, it was a true grassroots movement of desperate people calling for true representation in our government.

But something happened on the way to saving this country, some self-proclaimed leaders of the Tea Party have decided to purify the movement and start defining their own ideals of their perfect America.

The Tea Party movement as good as it was going, was slowly starting to be taken over by the new holier than thou pretenders.


One of these groups, Freedom Works decided that first victim of their cleansing would be the "Mormon" Mitt Romney, his religion was just so un-Christian and evil that he just didn't belong, so they promoted anti-Romney rallies, branded him a Liberal and a flip-flopper with the ultimate goal to destroy the good name of this good and decent man.
In their infinite wisdom to define their vision for their new Tea Party, they not only made the Republican front-runner Mitt Romney, Persona Non-Grata but managed to alienate, ostracize and insult almost half of the original and authentic Tea Partiers and Romney supporters, they have literally told them to go take a hike.


But for Pete's sakes, why aren't we going after the people that are hell bent on destroying our way of life, are they not our real enemy?
Why are some of you trying to destroy The Tea Party movement that we all believed in?


Some self described leaders of The Tea Party Organizations like Freedom Works, Red State,  Free Republic, along with leading conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Mark Levin have begun defining to their millions of listeners who should belong to this very elite group. One of these groups ( Red State ) have gone as far as to ban Mitt Romney supporters from giving their opinion on their web page!


So let me get this straight, according to these people,  Mitt Romney is a Flip-Flopper and a Liberal...... OK, then let's see who the leaders of the New Tea Party are promoting to be their CONSERVATIVE champion for the Presidency of The United States.


1) Herman Cain, an accused sexual harasser of women with absolutely no clue on foreign affairs........Really?

2) Rick Perry, former Democrat who helped run Al Gore's Texas Gore for President campaign and the darling of the anti- illegal immigration crowd. who defended and still defends college tuition for illegals,  Perry also tried to force vaccine innoculations on 12 year old girls........Really?

3) Newt Gingrich, former Nancy Pelosi partner in the Global Warming scam, supported Obama Care and a  Health Care mandate since 2005, he is the only Speaker of the House to have been disciplined for ethics violations,  Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer while he was married to wife number two.  ...............Really?

4) Ron Paul, a 9/11 truther, and foreign affairs isolationist, anti- Semite, would allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.......... Really?


5) John Huntsman, was President Obama's Chinese ambassador, and was for a universal health care mandate before he was against it...... .... ( never mind )

6) Rick Santorum, endorsed Sen. Arlen Specter and later endorsed Mitt Romney for President back in 2007......... Really?

7) Michelle Bachmann was a conservative darling before she talked her way out of front-runner  status.... Really?

8) Tim Pawlenty, a strong fiscal and social conservative, once considered a front-runner now not only endorses Romney but is co-chairman of the Romney campaign.

9) Chris Christie, The Tea Party faithful were begging and screaming for the Governor to get in the race, but he decided against it and enthusiastically endorsed Mitt Romney..........Yes really! 

So let's sum it all up, the new Tea Party would rather back an inexperienced accused sexual harasser, a womanizer, an isolationist and an anti-Semite, a former Al Gore Democrat, a global warming and an Obama Care advocate,  all who have proven to be major flip-floppers throughout their political careers, over a true conservative Mormon of whom CNN"s Pierce Morgan called the cleanest politician in America?  Really?

I have been stunned and bewildered by the drastic actions of this once proud organization on one of its own, their backstabbing attacks on our preferred candidate has hit us hard, hit us fast and hit us under the belt........... bottom line, none of us deserved this.
As I write this I feel ashamed and betrayed and have come to the realization that the Tea Party no longer speaks for me. Some of you have become a scourge and an embarrassment to true conservatives who still believe in good moral and ethical values.
Instead of gaining status and respect with conservatives, you are losing the battle for the minds of the average American who can see bigotry when it's right in front of them.

This was never about what a few of you wanted, it was about what we all wanted and somewhere down that path, some of you lost your way.
So it's your party and you don't want us to come?  O.K. we won't,  but just don't expect us to come back when you need us........... Romney / 2012
