CNN/Time Poll: Romney and Santorum soar in South Carolina
Posted by CNN Political Unit
(CNN) - Mitt Romney's numbers in South Carolina are surging, and he now has a solid lead over his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination, according to a new survey of likely GOP primary voters in the Palmetto state.
And a CNN/Time/ORC International poll released Friday also indicates that former Sen. Rick Santorum's support in South Carolina has soared, while former House Speaker Newt Gingrich's numbers have nose-dived.
South Carolina holds the first in the South contest in the race for the nomination, with its January 21 contest coming 11 days after the New Hampshire primary. Since 1980, when the state switched from a caucus system to a primary, the winner of the South Carolina GOP primary has always gone on to win the Republican nomination.
According to the poll, 37% of likely GOP primary voters in South Carolina say they are currently backing Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who is making his second bid for the White House. Romney has nearly doubled his support from CNN's last survey in the Palmetto State, which was conducted early last month. The new poll was conducted Wednesday and Thursday, after Romney's eight-vote victory over Santorum in Tuesday night's Iowa caucuses.............................................................................Read more,

By a Nose… Romney Wins Iowa!

We waited and waited… We smacked our foreheads and chewed our nails… When the roller coaster caucus results were finally figured out it was an 8 vote victory!
State Republican officials said that, with 99 percent of the precincts counted and with Romney within four votes of Rick Santorum (29,968 to 29,964), they could not declare a winner until one precinct from Clinton County, in eastern Iowa, reported its results.
According to a CNN interview with two county officials, those precinct results had actually been sent to the state at 8:48 Eastern time, almost six hours before. It was unclear why those numbers were not tabulated in the statewide count in what turned out to be the closest caucus ever in Iowa’s history. The officials said they were awaken from sleep with requests for the number.......... Read more http://mittromneycentral.com/2012/01/04/by-a-nose-romney-wins-iowa/

By a nose, it’s a win for Mitt Romney in Iowa! The dramatic, remarkable, historic evening went long into the night. While ballrooms full of supporters waited, the suspense finally came to an end in the early morning:
It apparently took a call to roust a precinct chair out of bed to confirm results that finally, at about 2:33 a.m., gave Mitt Romney a victory, by 8 votes, in the state of Iowa.State Republican officials said that, with 99 percent of the precincts counted and with Romney within four votes of Rick Santorum (29,968 to 29,964), they could not declare a winner until one precinct from Clinton County, in eastern Iowa, reported its results.

Longtime Former Aide to Ron Paul Slams Candidate

By Tom O'Connell
Read more on Newsmax.com: Longtime Former Aide to Ron Paul Slams Candidate Important: Do You Support Pres. Obama's Re-Election? Vote Here Now!Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul of Texas “was opposed to the war in Afghanistan and to any military reaction to the attacks of 9/11,” but ultimately voted in favor of them because of pressure from his staff, a former aide says.
The aide, Eric Dondero, worked for Paul from 1987 to 2003. In a statement released Monday, Dondero said he resigned over political and personal issues, including Paul’s opposition to the war in Iraq, reports DailyCaller.com.
Dondero, who also has been known as Eric Rittberg, claims Paul subscribed to conspiracy theories behind the Sept. 11 attacks, including that they were “coordinated by the CIA, and that the Bush administration might have known about” them. Paul also took a cold stance on the victims, says Dondero, whom the Paul campaign describes as a disgruntled former employe who was fired and subsequently ran against the congressman.
“He expressed no sympathies whatsoever for those who died on 9/11, and pretty much forbade us staffers from engaging in any sort of memorial expressions, or openly asserting pro-military statements in support of the Bush administration,” the statement reads.

The Case for Mitt Romney
By Dr. Michael Santos
There is a lot of talk these days about who can or cannot beat Barack Obama in the general election. Moderates say some candidate can’t win because he or she is too conservative. Conservatives argue that only a true conservative can win, that a moderate will be as successful as Dole in ’96 or McCain in ’08. Both sides are wrong. A look at American presidential history shows that the American people have voted for moderate Republicans (Nixon and Bush just two examples), conservative Republicans (Reagan and the 2nd Bush who ran as a conservative), and also for liberals in more than one occasion. They have even voted for a Marxist!
Ideology by itself does not predict whether a candidate is or is not electable. There is much more to it than just that. A successful candidate must be able to present himself as the solution to the problems facing the country.
Republicans, independents, and even some democrats agree that our country is spending too much money and accumulating too much debt. Those independents that supported Obama in ’08 are having buyer’s remorse and feeling that they placed an inexperienced man to lead our nation in very difficult times. They basically think he is way over his head. And they are right. Ideology is not the only thing that has made this President a complete disaster. His lack of experience has been painful to watch............Read more......... http://www.teapartytribune.com/2011/12/07/the-case-for-mitt-romney/
A Company Saved From Bankruptcy By Romney Was Just Named The Best Employer In America
Aimee Groth and Gus Lubin

The best employer in America — according to an annual report from Glassdoor — is a company that was saved from bankruptcy by Mitt Romney.
Bain & Company today is defined by Romney, and that says a lot for his capabilities as a leader.
While Romney held a longer tenure at the head of Bain Capital (a 1983 spinoff from the consulting firm), his year as CEO of Bain & Co had a massive impact.
Romney was brought on as CEO in 1991 to save the company from financial collapse. In 12 months, he completely turned the company around, bringing it back to profitability and avoiding layoffs by fixing the governance structure and creating more transparency. For example, he allowed managers to see each other's salaries. After handing off the firm to new leadership, he went back to his old job at Bain Capital.

Don Huber, my first personal Romney friendship story…
My fifty year friendship with George & Mitt Romney began on this day in January 1962 when my grad school professor Dr. Harold Norris took me to Lansing, MI to meet his Constitutional Convention colleague... a man he said debated, sounded, and thought like me... and vice... versa... my mentor and protégé relationship with Mitt's dad lasted for 33 years up to his passing in August 1995... my friendship with the next and 45th President has now lasted nearly 50 years... coincidentally Nov 6, 2012 as we watch the election returns will be the 50th anniversary to the day the hour and the minute when I sat with the Romney’s November 6, 1962 watching Geo become Michigan's new Governor! My wife believes there is a meaning behind these coincidences in life!!!A message about a trusted friend, from a conservative leaning, 13th generation American patriot of life-long personal and ancestral Republican affiliations and allegiances dating to pre-colonial America, signers of the Declaration of Independence and the conclave of July 1854, under the Oaks on Morgan’s Forty in Jackson, MI where the GOP was founded.
Having Known the Romney's (Geo & Mitt) as personal friends for 33 and 50 years respectively I can speak to and attest to Mitt Romney being from among the most honorable, decent, moral, ethical, reputable, respectable, responsible, truthful and trustworthy in our entire population and of the highest degree of integrity one could ever hope to meet and know... He is well educated and has been a success and exemplary leader in all of his personal, social, family and civic dealings and has a proven successful track record in the world of business and especially in the turnaround arena... He cut jobs where necessary to save a core enterprise from bankruptcy avoiding more jobs being lost. He created jobs whenever possible by salvaging and growing a brighter future for the business.
The Honorable W. Mitt Romney is the last, best and ONLY hope for saving America, restoring the U.S. Constitution, rebuilding our nation’s reputation in the world and renewing a prosperous economy for our future. He can calm the public, private and political atmosphere returning civility to the public discourse in government circles, the political arena and in the public square on Main Street, USA! My friend Mitt Romney will steady the hand, speak the heart and revive the all important voice of We the People!

The Des Moines Register’s GOP caucus endorsement: Mitt Romney is best to lead
Sobriety, wisdom and judgment.
Those are qualities Mitt Romney said he looks for in a leader. Those are qualities Romney himself has demonstrated in his career in business, public service and government. Those qualities help the former Massachusetts governor stand out as the most qualified Republican candidate competing in the Iowa caucuses.
Sobriety: While other candidates have pandered to extremes with attacks on the courts and sermons on Christian values, Romney has pointedly refrained from reckless rhetoric and moralizing. He may be accused of being too cautious, but choosing words carefully is a skill essential for anyone who could be sitting in the White House and reacting to world events.
Wisdom: Romney obviously is very smart. He graduated as valedictorian at Brigham Young University and finished in the top 5 percent in his MBA class at Harvard, where he also earned a law degree. Romney also exhibits the wisdom of a man who listened and learned from his father and his mother, from his church and from his own trials and errors in life. He does not lack self confidence, but he is not afraid to admit when he has been wrong.
Judgment: Romney disagrees with Democrats on most issues, but he offers smart and well-reasoned alternatives rather than simply proposing to swing a wrecking ball in Washington. He is a serious student of public policy who examines the data before making a decision. His detailed policy paper on the economy contains 87 pages of carefully crafted positions on taxes, energy, trade and regulatory policy, complete with 127 footnotes.............See more

The Case For Mitt Romney
Why Mitt? I’m asked the question almost every day. Friends will pull me aside at church, casual acquaintances will stop me at Wal-Mart, and longtime colleagues will call for extended conversations. They see me as a rare breed: The “movement” conservative who is unabashedly, enthusiastically for Mitt Romney.
Why?
The answer begins with the time, this moment in American history. Every few decades, turns in the business cycle, changes in culture, and policy mistakes conspire to make us question ourselves. Is the American Dream still alive? Will our children do better than we did? Is America, after two hundred years of growth and hope, finally in decline?
Did Gov. Romney Choose Gay Marriage? Santorum Misconstrues Romney’s Record
by Nancy French
I’m watching the debate, during which Rick Santorum really misconstrued Gov. Romney’s record on gay rights. Here’s what David wrote about this very argument in January of 2007 here:
Did Mitt Romney choose gay marriage for Massachusetts? That’s the thrust of a bizarre and amateurish legal argument that is circulating through the internet and conservative media. A group calling itself “MassResistance” has been peddling for many months the argument that the Massachusetts Supreme Court did not actually mandate same-sex marriage in Massachusetts but instead merely requested that the legislature change the laws to permit same-sex marriage. Since the law was not changed (and since the Court didn’t have the authority to order the legislature to write new laws)–so the argument goes–Governor Romney therefore never had to recognize same-sex marriage and was in fact the “father” of same-sex marriage when he permitted state and local officials to perform and recognize such marriages. For the latest example of this specious argument, see the quotes from MassResistance member John Haskins in this story. Read more...........
Nikki Haley endorses Mitt Romney. Can she help him win South Carolina?
COLUMBIA, S.C.--South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is backing Mitt Romney's bid for the Republican presidential nomination—ending the suspense over one of the most sought-after endorsements in the party.
Announcing her decision on Fox News, Haley, a tea party conservative who was elected as the state's first female governor a year ago, pointed to Romney's private-sector background and his experience as a Republican governor in a Democratic state as the reasons behind her support.
"What I want is someone who is not part of the chaos in Washington," Haley told Fox News.
Acknowledging that Romney is "not the perfect candidate," Haley said she believed the former Massachusetts governor could go toe-to-toe with President Obama in the general election.
"Gov. Romney is the one candidate that President Obama consistently tries to hit and get out of the way," Haley told Fox News. "That lets me know he's scared of him. It also lets me know Gov. Romney's got a good fight in him and that's the one President Obama doesn't want to have to go against."

MITT ROMNEY, THE TRUE CONSERVATIVE
![]() |
| By Evelio Perez |
The President has made us the laughing stock of the world by befriending our enemies and have turned their backs on our friends, they have destroyed our economy, wrecked havoc on small businesses and are hell bent on Socializing and controlling all aspects of American life as we now know it.
If we as a united Republican Party happen to win back the Congress and the Presidency, we better be READY and ABLE to not only fix the financial nightmare that is infecting our nation but we must morally lead America from the perverted and corrupted filth that is infecting us all from our schools to the main stream media. We must also regain our standing as the most powerful nation in the world (we bow to no one) and we have to identify evil and deal with it with strength and decisiveness. (our survival depends on it)
We as a united party must NEVER again fail the American people, simply because we might not get another chance to lead, we so desperately need an able, reliable, ethical, competent and moral valued social conservative who not only believes in these things but actually lives that life. There's hope though, CNN's Pierce Morgan calls this person "The most ethical and cleanest man in America" and this person is Governor Mitt Romney.
In Mitt Romney we have the total package, he has prepared and succeeded all of his life to be the best of what he does and more importantly he has led the true life of a real conservative, he is a loving husband and father and as a business leader he was second to none ( according to Jim Cramer ) and he had a very successful FOUR year term as Governor of Massachusetts, a very important fact about Romney is that there will be NO SKELETONS in his past.

I really think that for the troubles that America faces, the uncontrolled spending, the spiralling national debt, unemployment, health care costs and the assault of our way of life that we don't need any more pretenders to the social and fiscal conservative throne. There will be no more tap dancing in toilet stalls, no more affairs with Argentinian reporters while your family stays faithfully at home and no more scandalous sex with male interns....the days of deceit and embarrassment for The Republican Party are over.
We have been desperately seeking for that qualified person that lives and breathes the life of a true conservative and I believe we found him, that man is Mitt Romney and God willing he will be sworn in as the next President of the United States.........

RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
![]() |
| By Evelio Perez |
In Governor Mitt Romney we had the total package, we had the right man with the deep Christian ethics and values that is identified with the majority of Americans and yet, inside party collusion and a major dislike for the man's faith, gave us John McCain and this embarrassing and humiliating defeat against an inexperienced Socialist.
When we talk of rebuilding the already damaged Republican Party, we must understand why we were and will continue to be defeated if we don't change our destructive and discriminative actions.
Many slanderous statements from many social conservatives ( like Pastor Robert Jeffress ) have been truly embarrassing and unbecoming to our conservative beliefs and not worthy of a true Christian, if these destructive ways of religious discrimination continue, our chances of ever getting qualified and honest people to lead our very fragile republic will become un-reachable.
![]() |
Are we serious in taking back The White House?
Can we finally say no more to the nasty religious bigotry that embarrasses the Republican Party?
Do we have to start a new conservative party where the principles and the ethical standards of Ronald Reagan wont be slapped down?
If we are seriously seeking to rebuild the Republican Party, lets unite with the true Conservative leaders and elect qualified people like Governor Mitt Romney, do yourselves a favor and study his record, see what he has accomplished as a husband and father, the many triumphs in the private sector and the four years as Governor of Massachusetts and you will find that he is the right man for the right historical time to lead us back to victory and prosperity...........

MITT ROMNEY, WHY HE IS FEARED
![]() |
| By Evelio Perez |
Governor Romney has raised more money, out endorsed, given to more Republican candidates and campaigned for more Republican candidates than Palin, Huckabee and Pawlenty combined and yet this is not reported by the Mainstream Media (which also includes Fox News).
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich's appearances would have been worth almost $6 million to advertisers, and Governor Sarah Palin's would have cost them approximately $5 million.
Senator Rick Santorum's advertising equivalency is about $4.19 million, while former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton's would have cost just under 3 million dollars.... http://mediamatters.org/research/201011180031 )
Why are they pushing and promoting Sarah Palin (with a reality show) daily as the leader of the Republican party who consistently finishes third on these polls?
Why are they pushing a very damaged Mike Huckabee? (He never met a criminal he didn't pardon.)
Why is that happening and why is it so blatant?
Could the big secret be that they all secretly want anyone but Romney running against The anointed One, President Barack Hussein Obama?
It is very simple folks, Mitt Romney is feared because he can win, it is as simple as that.
It is very simple folks, Mitt Romney is feared because he can win, it is as simple as that.
Is there a consensus on both sides that President Obama could beat everyone in the Republican side except for Governor Romney? Hmmmm I wonder...........
