Investigating Sarah Palin's Mysterious Delegate Packages At The GOP Convention

By Jared Allebest
Conservative Samizdat

I have received numerous messages from various people asking me if I could verify a claim made by a Ron Paul blogger named "wincap" that supporters of Sarah Palin are going around at the Ron Paul events in Tampa Florida and passing out or mailing packages attempting to woo Paul supporters/delegates into voting for Sarah Palin in the event that a brokered convention occurs:
Sara Palin is in town and playing games, she is trying to steal the nomination, she sent out packets to all of the delegates asking them to vote for her if there is a brokered convention and she is trying to cause a brokered convention. I spoke to delegates at my booth who said they received the packet. None of our delegates will vote for her, putting my dislike for her aside, if she helps with a brokered convention I am fine with it because I think we could win a brokered convention.
I can confirm the source of where these packets might be coming from. There is a news report of a pro-Palin group called The Earthquake Movement who appear to be the source of these delegate packets:

According to an email from a representative of The Earthquake Movement, the group has sent informational packets to delegates around the country, asking them to be one of the five required majority state delegations needed to nominate Palin in the first round of voting at the Republican National Convention. The packets also ask for delegates to nominate Palin in the second round if presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney does not receive the required number of delegates in the first round.

The Earthquake Movement has also distributed information on Palin's "record, accomplishments and why we think she is the person who can excite the base and defeat President Obama in November."

"We are finding a lot of unhappy Republican voters," the email said. "They feel like the RNC is not listening to them and based on voter turn out in the primaries and what we are hearing from Conservative Americans, they want her to emerge from the convention as the nominee. They are also very angry that she was not given a prime time speaking spot at the convention and are wondering if the RNC is attempting to shut her out because her message resonates with so many of us fly-overs. Are they afraid if she speaks prior to the vote or at all, we will have an averted Reagan experience?"
One California Ron Paul supporter who is a delegate has claimed that he received the package in the mail:

In fact, if you look at one of the pages of The Earthquake Movement's website, you can see them making a pitch to delegates on the legality of nominating Sarah Palin as the GOP nominee and encouraging them to take a stand to nominate her. They also encourage the delegates to buck the system and they support an "open convention" (brokered convention). They also have a blog called A Servant's Heart which puts up much of the information found on the website on the blog.
On the The Earthquake Movement's facebook page, you can see a post of them discussing the packages and their strategy for making a brokered convention happen:

Thus, it is highly likely that members of this group may have been at the GOP Convention distributing these packets to potential delegates who are supporters of Ron Paul. Given that the existence of these packages, it may be a matter of time before the contents of these packages show up on the news or on a blog site. I know that contents of the packages are somewhere on line since I have seen people talk about reading the documents and watching a DVD on the the Internet. Perhaps someone can put the entire contents of the package on a blog or send it to me.
What I find interesting is that there are two kinds of politicians. First, there those those who put party above themselves such as Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum who both have released their delegates to Mitt Romney. Then there are politicians who put themselves above the party such as Sarah Palin and Ron Paul who have no delegates yet have said nothing or done nothing to stop their supporters who wish to circumvent the nomination process by attempting to engineer a brokered convention to nominate someone other than candid

You are lying liar who lies.

These "Earthquake" people are NOT affiliated with Governor Palin.

In fact, Governor Palin wants NOTHING to do with these idiots.

Top Conservative websites like Conservatives4Palin, have BANNED these delusional morons.

As have a hundred or so Palin Facebook groups.

You have already been contacted and be asked to retract these lies. I don't know why you Romney supporters feel the need to lie 24/7 about Governor Palin, but I can tell you, it doesn't help Mitt at all.

BTW, according to the RNC chair Reince Preibus, Governor Palin was offered a prime time spot at the convention, and declined.

She will be in Arizona during the GOP dog and pony show, supporting CONSERVATIVE candidates for the House and Senate.

YOU need to stop the lies. It doesn't help Romney.

Really?

Are you just jealous and bitter or what?

Palin has said she is 100% behind Romney/Ryan. She has said she is "all in" for them. She has asked the undecideds to give him a second look. She has said she will vote for him over Obama. She has made it VERY clear that Obama must go.

What more do you want from her?

She chose not to run for her reasons. She is NOT affiliated with this Earthquake group in any way. The leading blogs that support her Conservatives4Palin and Palin4America both banned the Earthquake people and Palin4America even went so far as to put it in their terms of service that the Earthquake movement and the topic there of is not allowed in the comment section.

Gov. Palin is not responsible for what these people do. No one knows if she is even aware of this group. She is busy working hard to make sure that Romney has a majority GOP conservative Senate to work with.

You clearly do NOT want Romney to win. If you did, you would be promoting UNITY and not stirring the pot of strife.

Gov. Palin has always said that it is amazing what you can accomplish if you don't care who gets the credit. As she has said, she is "all in" for Romney/Ryan to win in November. She doesn't care who beats Obama, just that the GOP beats him. She has never been about herself being the one to unseat Obama or she would have run herself.

Quit trying to stir up trouble where there is NONE. You are chasing rabbits with tin foil hats. You should be more reasonable than that. This Earthquake group is a tiny fringe group that simply wanted Palin to run in 2012. Fine, don't begrude them of that. However, she didn't run. She made the choice not to run and they need to respect that. That still doesn't make them and their actions her responsibility anymore than it makes Mitt Romney responsible for the fact that some of his lower staffers (those darn "unnamed Romney staffers") just can't stop trashing Palin in the media. If Palin is responsible for this crazy unhinged group then Romney is responsible for his crazy, unhinged "unnamed staffers". It works both ways.

Let's all be adults here. We need Obama out of office. Palin knows that. She has endorsed and backed Romney. Romney and Ryan know that. Can we please ignore the small group of tin foil in the corner of the room and focus on UNITY in order to defeat Obama?

Let's repeat it together UNITY...

The Earthquake group is a grassroots group who is simply using our freedom of speech. Just like this group, we are not endorsed by Sarah Palin or anyone else. The disclaimer is available if you would like to see it. However, what you are claiming here is a lie. Sarah is NOT in Tampa, nor is she even aware that these packets have been sent out. We simply want her honest record to be known to the delegates in the event that a brokered convention does occur. It appears that there are those who think that Sarah is a threat and that is why the rules are being changed at the last minute to shackle the delegates to Romney. Where is the freedom and honesty in that? Why change the rules if Romney is the shoo in anyway? These ridiculous attacks on a Facebook group shows your own thin skin and your possible lack of faith in your own candidate. Just my opinion anyway.

Well said, Gary! Earthquake jas nothing to do with Governor Palin. Governor Palin is behind the Romney-Ryan ticket. She is fighting hard to get conservatives like Kirk Adams elected. If you want real Palin news go to SarahNETRadio.net, US4Palin, and Team Sarah...not fringe groups!

If Palin is trully supporting Romney / Ryan, then she should condemn The Earthquake group, until then all evidence points to her.

IF Sarah Palin is Nominated in any fashion, we will have PROOF that she is a traitor to the Republican Party.

Watch and See.

Hey bimbo, SP is indeed hanging out with Kirk Adams and Paul Gosar in AZ, little late for the nominating convo.

Is your middle name Behar by any chance? You sound just like one of these braindead libs. Do you WANT to beat the Magic Negro, or BE him?

Got some evidence to back that up queenie?

Good lord. That sounds like my old jurassic congressman Tom "I'll never retire" Foley: "It's the seriousness of the charge".

I'm worried not for Romney but for America that we might once again have two liberals running to be president.

What a freakin' joke. We've got an enemy more dangerous than Al-Qaeda in the al-Hussein Obama administration and you dolt Romneybots are busy running against Sarah Palin, who isn't even anywhere near Tampa this week?

You're not ready to win, period. Four more years of the Usurper, thanks a lot....................
